Choosing and obtaining a domain name |

Choosing a Domain NameMost visitors to your web site would type your domain name into their browser. Thus, it is important that you choose a domain name that is memorable and describes your site well.
What do I have to choose from?A domain name can consist of A-Z, 0-9, and the hyphen -. Although you are allowed to have domain names up to 255 characters long, it is normally not recommended that you do so, for long names can be hard to remember. You can also change the .com of reverac.com to something else. Common alternatives
are .net and .org. recently, more TLDs were made available. They include .cc,
.ws, .tv, .info, .biz, .name (meant for personal sites only).
Getting your very own Domain NameAll domain names and their corresponding IP addresses are stored in a large database. Unlike an address where buying a property will enable you to use it for as long as you choose, domain names are bought by the year. The minimum period varies, but most require a period of at least a year. Some, like the domains ending with .info, have to be registered for a longer period.
